The Allen County 9/11 Memorial

The Allen County 9/11 Memorial will pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

Curving gracefully along the bank of the Ottawa River, bordered by the Rotary Riverwalk, the Allen County 9/11 Memorial will be a place of quiet reflection where visitors can honor the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives that day. The memorial will feature images of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania where the attacks occurred. Embedded in the memorial will be a piece of steel from the World Trade Center, a piece of limestone from the Pentagon, and a stone from Shanksville.

The memorial will preserve the legacy and lessons of that tragic day. And to ensure that future generations never forget, the memorial committee is working with local schools to develop an educational program for children and is looking forward to hosting field trips from students across west central Ohio and beyond.
