The Allen County 9/11 Memorial

In the timeline of history, there are few dates with more meaning to Americans than September 11, 2001.

That was the day that terrorists killed 2,977 innocent people at the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, at the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

As time marches forward, the events and consequences of that day cannot be allowed to fade into obscurity. A group of citizens and community leaders formed the Allen County 9/11 Memorial Foundation to raise funds for the monument and to create an educational program to keep the memory of 9/11 alive, especially for students.

The memorial features a length of steel from the World Trade Center, a piece of limestone from the Pentagon and a boulder from the Shanksville, PA crash site. These are displayed alongside three flags in a beautifully landscaped area of the park.

Thank you to all the donors and contractors whose generosity helped make this memorial a reality.
